Richard Madeley Celebrates 69th Birthday Live on Good Morning Britain

London – Television presenter Richard Madeley marked a personal milestone on Tuesday morning’s edition of Good Morning Britain, celebrating his 69th birthday on-air with warm wishes from co-host Susanna Reid and fans across the country.

As the show was nearing a segment break, Susanna paused the programme to spotlight the occasion, announcing with a smile, “Just before we go to the weather, I just want to say a huge Happy Birthday to Richard Madeley!”

Richard, known for his modesty, thanked Susanna but admitted he’s never been one to celebrate birthdays with much fanfare. “When you get to my age, you don’t want any fuss because it reminds you of how close you are—” he joked, before being cut off mid-sentence by Susanna, who laughed and replied, “The thing is, no one can believe your age. You’re another year older, but you just seem to get younger and younger, Richard Madeley.”

As the segment continued, Richard reflected on how daily exposure on television masks the signs of ageing. “I’m on every day here, mostly. Of course I’m ageing… but because I’m on all the time, it’s not possibly as noticeable.” Susanna teased back, “You’re not on every day! I don’t know what delulu you’re in where you are on every day!” prompting laughter from both hosts.

Despite the light-hearted exchange, Susanna praised Richard’s youthful appearance, saying he could easily pass for 49. Richard humbly credited his late mother’s genetics, recalling that she looked remarkably young well into her 80s.

Viewers quickly flooded social media with birthday messages. “Happy Birthday, Richard!!” wrote one fan. Another commented, “Happy 69th Birthday Richard. My birthday is next Wednesday – I’ll be 44. You look great… whatever you’re doing is working. Enjoy your day!”

As celebrations continued throughout the broadcast, it was clear Richard remains a beloved figure to both his colleagues and audience — still charming, still sharp, and still very much a fixture of British morning television.
