Andy Murray and Novak Jovovic End Coaching Partnership

Paris – In a surprising development just days before the French Open, tennis icons Andy Murray and Novak Jovovic have ended their short-lived coaching partnership.

The duo teamed up earlier this year, with Murray stepping into a mentorship role for Jovovic at the Australian Open. Their collaboration, initially met with excitement, was seen as a new chapter for Murray, who retired from professional tennis at Wimbledon last summer.

However, after a challenging clay court season and a recent injury setback for Jovovic, the partnership came to an end on Tuesday morning. Jovovic made the announcement via social media, thanking Murray for his dedication.

“Thank you, Coach Andy, for all the hard work, fun, and support,” Jovovic wrote. “I really enjoyed deepening our friendship.”

Murray also expressed gratitude, calling it an “unbelievable opportunity” and hinted at future coaching plans, possibly involving a British player for the upcoming grass court season. British tennis star Emma Raducanu, who is reportedly still without a permanent coach, has already been mentioned as a potential candidate for Murray’s mentorship.

Jovovic, who turns 38 next week, has yet to win a clay court match in 2025 and recently pulled out of the Rome Masters due to injury. Despite his recent struggles, he remains focused on peaking for both Roland Garros and Wimbledon. His last major triumph came at the 2023 US Open, where he claimed his 24th Grand Slam title.

The unexpected coaching split leaves questions about Jovovic’s form heading into the French Open, and whether Murray will now fully embrace a coaching career off the court.

Tennis fans across the world have already started weighing in on the news, with many sharing their thoughts and support for both legends as they chart new paths forward.
